Re: Ok..now for some discussion..

I should have said that the electron is not the SIGNAL carrier, and the charge on the individual electrons at an instantaneous point is not the signal carrier.

"Current is actually defined as movement of electrons..the number of electrons that pass a plane in a second.."
Yes that is the classical definition. I think it was actually made before they totally understood what an electron was.

"The electron actually is the charge carrier" now I read somewhere that it was being disputed that an electron could carry all the charge that it classically is supposed to

" ..case in point..vacuum tubes.."
But in a vacuum tube the electrons move much easier in free space and are accelerated due to the heater and the extra high voltage on the anode. and as they are accelerated their mass is also increases (special relativity) so the charge/mass may also increase.

"When the water is moving, the motor at the end is rotating..stop the water at one end, the motor stops instantly..if the line were a thousand feet long, the liquid stopping at the near end would send a pressure wave to the far end, and that is the delay from one end of the pipe to the other...speed of sound in the water...but, the water can be traveling at inches per second speeds, while changes in flow rate will go near the speed of sound (in water)."
But when you stall an electric motor the current (flow)increases to overcome the load. But in a fluidic circuit the flow (current) is stopped and the pressure (EMF) increases to overcome the stall. this is why it's a very bad analogy i.e. whilst flow=force/load =I=V/Z whist circulating, everything else falls down.

Re Occaman/Occam: aka William of Ockham (Occam) - - I must learn to speil propberley, no checker on IE6.
Occam's Razor:
One should not increase, beyond what is necessary, the number of entities required to explain anything:
Whilst most likely true-ish for a "philosopher" (accepting Boole :¬)), it normally gets demoted to:
"The simplest explanation is the right one" !
i.e. the sun goes round the earth; and there is no gravity! the earth sucks!
hence: the theory of limited imagination - -Fox Maulder :¬)

But since the electron is soo small less than 1/1000 th of the radius of its orbit. Those billiard balls would have to be fired so accurately that even Hurricane Higgins or Steve White would be put to shame, and as Heisenberg says they may not even know where they are.
or. Unless the electron is very large like the size of its orbital diameter or about 1000 times the size of its nuclei. but then it would have even more problems getting through the crystal lattice structure of the metal.

Science does close it mind to the anomalies it doesn't want to look at.
We can see that at the macro level "all copper wires are the same". Which is of cource why we are here !

Anyway the study of how electrickery works at cryogenic levels, like current without a potential difference, especially in a ceramic insulator, hopefully will reveal what really goes on at the sub-atomic crystalline level.

My current vote (pun intended) is with TEM waves as the route to understanding AC signal in audio cables.

Curiously an RF mate of mine does not disagree with the theory that a capacitor or inductor is not a transmission line.
