Re: What is the treatment? Are you doing this yourself?

Dear Near......deep immersion is do-able by a trained professional *with* experience in this technology, of course. Thermal shock, and material degradation, is introduced primarily by an accelerated temperature descent, prior to the soak. Done properly, and sl-o-o-o-o-wly, materials survive deep cryogenic treatment without damage(again, those materials that are manufactured *with* the proper ratings).

Johnny Neutron works at Brookhaven, an internationally-recognized facility, with superconducting materials requiring s.o.t.a deep cryogenic treatment. No doubt he has the experience, proper equipment, and "friends" to help out with these lowly, ceramic power resistors. And by the way, the Ohmite's are quite sturdy. I use their vitreous enamel-types in the Cable Cooker for the high-level circuit.
