Normal freezer temperatures do not have the same effect as cryogenic treatment. It is well documented that the behavior of materials at extremely low temperatures changes quite abruptly. Super conductivity being a good example where ultra low temperatures are required to have the desired effect. 1 or 2 kelvin more and no more super conductivity.

Putting metal in a freezer has no permanent effect on its grain structure, conductivity, hardness etc. Cryogenically treating it does affect these parameters.
