RE: Everything Matters -- SSD

What DAC are you using? If it's just the internal audio out from the Mac, then sure, highly possible the SSD creates much less electrical noise / interference than the HD, hence lower noise floor. I have one of those old white MacBooks (first generation Core Duo, not even Core 2), and the audio out was noisy, easily detectable with headphones and IMO not suitable for high-end playback.

If you're playing through an external DAC via USB/TosLink then I'd be very suspicious about your claim.
