RE: WAV vs FLAC

Yes, you're right. The server can stream to either WAV/PCM or straight FLAC to the SqueezeBox for decoding.

Again, as per the opinions around FLAC/WAV, I have never noticed a sonic difference between either way of streaming to my Transporter through headphones (either the Etymotic ER-4 or AudioTechnica M50) or speakers over the years.

Back a number of firmware revisions ago (probably about 2 years back), some people complained of problems with the SB decoding FLAC level 8 compression leading to choppy sound. I believe that has been long resolved and I've never had the problem.

The beauty of FLAC is that it was never all that CPU hungry a format.
