RE: some things to try

Don't jump to conclusion...not yet anyway.

Your Device Manager must show your USB device.

Firstly, make sure that you can play through your device.
Then, in Device Manager under View, click "Show hidden devices".
Then, in View, "Devices by connection".
In the PCI Bus brach you should be able to find "Intel...USB Universal Host Controller".
There are quite a few. Each one has a reference number next to it, branching into "USB Root Hub".
One of them should have your USB audio device. Write down its number -"3Axx".

Now, in View, click "Resouces by type"; then, enlarge Interrupt request (IRQ) branch.
The "Intel...USB Universal Host Controller" with your device should have a PCI number not shared with other controllers.
If it does, you may go in the previous section (discussed above) and try to disable it.
