DR,
As far as Console is concerned, using the onboard sound is exactly like using VAC for Input. Console just uses the IN/OUT modules of the driver you select.
The problem is linking that Input to an Output of a different resource, like Lynx. ASIO4ALL would allow that but there are other problems with it. So the driver of the onboard sound - Realtek - or of Lynx card would need a utility that allows to link its IN/OUT modules to different devices. Incidentally, this request has been made to Lynx support by many people for a long time because some competitors do have this capability, but it's fallen on deaf ears.
If I could link VAC input to Lynx output, my problem would be solved.
In fact, if I connect Lynx ASIO IN and OUT, I have no sound at all because there are no ASIO aware DVD players available.
This problems happens in Console with ASIO only. If I select DirectSound (which would be fine by me) the problem is totally different. I can select 2 In/Out modules from different devices indipendently, but it can only be stereo for both of them and at limited bit/sample rates. At this moment I am not sure if this is a limitation of DirectSound, the card driver or Console.
Pretty grim situation.
I'm also thinking about the possibility of using an external DVD player Digital or Analogue -> the Lynx card...
