RE: Digital audio crossover for DVD playback?

Hi DR,

Thanks for your reply.
Initially I wanted to use ASIO, but now I am more than willing to use DirectSound. That is why I am looking into audio filters as well.

The Lynx loopback trick can work on 2ch only. One would play the signal, for example, to ch-5, loop it back to ch-1 (which is the only one multi-ch capable) and there it is intercepted by Allocator. Unfortunately, it cannot work on multi-ch playback. One would have to start from ch-1 and loopback to it which is not possible because ch-1 takes hold of all cards' resources. I have been having a long discussion with Lynx support about it.

I am not sure I fully understand your suggestion.
Are you saying that the player plays to onboard sound, Allocator gets hold of Lynx and plays out to it?!
Firstly, Allocator is ASIO and it would not see DirectSound coming from onboard sound card because it is not ASIO compatible; secondly, it would be 2ch so, in order to XO multi-ch, one would need various instances of Allocator, therefore a plugin host is required too.
So, you are suggesting:
DS onboard -> Console -> Alloc LT -> Lynx

I doubt that it works... but I will look into it :-)

In the meantime, I have been watching/listening movies without LP and HP XO filters for bass/medium. Tweeters are protected by loudspeaker internal XO. Well...it's not too bad
