Thanks to all people who gave me some help.
I did not reply to the various suggestions because I wanted to do some testing.
As I said before, I had to use WAV slider in Windows Mixer otherwise volume was to low, but it introduced distortion/crackling.
I tried to max it out and that got rid of the distortion. However, while watching a 5.1 movie, audio bounced around various times. At one point Surround L/R became Front L/R and other oddities on XO side.
I must explain that my configuration has 4 speakers only. Therefore I have both movie player and Windows Audio set for quadriphonic sound, whereas Lynx Mixer, after XOing, needs to be set for 5.1 audio.
I tried to change Windows Speaker Setup output to 5.1 and leaving a 4 speaker setup in the movie player.
I watched 2 whole movies, a regular DVD and a BR, and it seems to work fine now (fingers crossed).
As DR suggested, I would like to keep Master Volume in Lynx Mixer. I maxed volume output in Console. Should I max it out in Allocator or leave it at -10?
