RE: ASIO for A/V playback

This is a foolow up to this subject for future reference.

I can XO and bi-amp my main speakers for 2ch listening with Jack and Allocator. My project aim was to have this configuration for multi-ch HT as well.

With the help of Presto, another Audio Asylum user, I managed to set-up a system with 6ch output - 4ch for active bi-amping Front-L/R and 2ch for Surr-L/R. I could have set-up more channels, but my LynxTwo-B card has only 6ch out.

This is how - DVD player -> VAC -> Console -> Allocator LT -> Lynx, through the use of ASIO4ALL.

A DVD player (such as PowerDVD) is set to DirectSound playback, practically all players default.
Windows Audio default is set Virtual Audio Cable, specifically VAC 1.
Asio4All is piping Input to VAC1 and Output to your device, mine is LynxTwo-B 1.
Both Console and Allocator LT are configured for Asio4All.
In Console you connect Wave-In -> Alloc LT x 2 (the number of instances depends on no. of channels to XO) -> Wave-Out to the right In-Out of each box.
That's it! It works.
I cannot use Lynx ASIO driver as originally intended, but I can now XO and bi-amp my speakers also during HT with a cMP-like PC. I am a happy man.

I hope this explanation can be of good use for some other users.
