RE: My guess is

I'll reserve judgment on the uRendu other than to say that the specs look no different really than a low power SBC like a Raspberry Pi.Whether there's any rationale to claims of better sound will need to be seen. Maybe the software affords more features like Roon support. That's cool. But what sticks out obviously is the price... $600+??? Compared to maybe $50 for a Pi???

As for LMS. It works well. Stable for months on end (usually only stopped to update). Has ongoing open source support. Has many plug-ins. Can be run on low power NAS devices. It might be old though by itself that's not a bad thing necessarily... But it's far from 'junk'.
