In my system the REGEN made a noticeable improvement compared to a straight connection from my relatively untweaked computer. I also tried an iPower wall wart instead of the one that the REGEN came with and that made a further, but slight improvement. Finally, replacing the REGEN with the iUSB3.0 made an additional slight improvement. This last configuration is the one I am presently using.
These devices are entirely system dependent and it may be difficult to impossible to predict what will work best in any given configuration, other than trial and error.
