It's even worse. Even if the sound waves hitting your body happened to be identical, the nerve firings from your inner ear to your auditory cortex would differ.

"Infinitesimal" changes can and do make a difference. This is a form of "butterfly effect". As to your other questions in this post, I was merely replying to your earlier post. Evaluating components in the presence of noise requires discernment. It is an acquired skill that can be learned. It may seem difficult at first, but it is not impossible. It is, among other things, a system identification problem. Of course, if one expects perfection one will inevitably be disappointed sooner or later.
