RE: Has Anyone Actually Heard MQA Files?

Until users have the opportunity of comparing original hi-res files, processed and unprocessed via MQA there will be nothing but rigged demos.

It is always possible to take a poor CD and "remaster" it by messing with the filters. This can change the sound slightly, similar to what your quotes describe. It is entirely possible to effect the same changes with a computer audio system by changing the upsampling software, for example using different filters in HQPlayer and picking the one that sounds best for a given recording. There is no need for a new format to do this.

Demos can be rigged. No competent person trying to sell a new product would give a demo that wasn't rigged to put their product in the best possible light. Whether they would step over the line to actual dishonest or not, there is still ample room for fooling the marks.
