I am still running an old version and am limited in what I can do by my older core i5 processor as well.
The really strange thing is that sending DSD to the Mytek greately reduces any computer effects (FLAC vs. WAV, REGEN or not, etc...) which are noticeable with PCM. I don't know if this is a characteristic of the Mytek or if it applies to other DACs as well.
One thing I have not tried is using Miksa's digital volume control prior to the DSD upsampling vs. using the digital volume control in the SABRE chip. I have previously compared the Mytek digital volume control with the analog volume control and dismissed the analog volume control as seriously degrading transparency at all settings. (The Mytek goes directly into my powered monitors, and the volume settings used for serious listening are in the range from -6 dB to -20 dB.) because of the way I've set up my monitors and the Mytek jumpers.)
