RE: What is the bottom line advantage?

As an indication, in broad terms PCM-to-DSD64 needs an i3 cpu; PCM-to-DSD128, an i5; PCM-to-DSD256, an i7. I am also talking about medium frequency speed cpus, not underpowered ones. As Tony said, adding filter like convolution increases processing. Obviously, the most demanding is multiplying all this for multichannel, like 5.1 or 7.1.
