The power consumption depends on the computer. You can use a device such as the Kill-A-Watt to measure power consumption while the computer is working and while idle.
Depending on your electricity rates, leaving on 1 watt of power 24/7/365 costs roughly $1.00. My biggest computer uses about 60 watts while idle, my server machine uses about 8 watts and my tablet about 4 watts. If your equipment is old then it will use more power for a given level of performance because the newer chip technology uses less energy per computation (smaller transistors results in less capacitance and allows lower signal voltages).
If you use air conditioning often then the energy used by the computer will create more heat that will have to be removed and this will significantly increase your power bill. However, if you seldom use air conditioning but do have to heat your house much of the year then electricity used to run your computers will reduce your heating bill. I live in Vermont and have no need for air conditioning but do need to heat the house more than half the year.
