RE: Sure, so do I.......................

It is possible to access all your files from anywhere in the world from your own computer(s). You may have to spend a small amount each year for domain name, a DNS service and/or a static IP address or some similar service. However, there are some gotchas.

First, if you have a typical home internet connection performance will be slow when accessing remotely. This will be especially true if you have DSL service or other service with a pathetically slow upload data rate. Second, your ISP my have restrictions against running servers on your connection and may force you to purchase a more expensive internet service. Third, and this is the big one. You are opening up your "attack surface" and hanging out a big red flag to hackers. If you don't really understand what you are doing (including all the nooks and crannies of the machine that is your "cloud" you are setting yourself up for major problems.

Finally, if you run your cloud service on a new machine it will cost you money and if you run it on an existing machine it will degrade the performance of that machine for other uses, so there won't be any free lunch.
