Hard core objectivists have a world view that includes a belief in the existence of an absolute truth. They believe that they have a personal handle on this, or if they don't that there are established "authorities" who do. There is no arguing with these people, given these beliefs. They know they are right and that's the end of it. It wouldn't be so bad if these people were technically competent, because if they were they might possibly contribute some useful data that could be used to improve the art and science of audio. Unfortunately, the people in question do not appear to be technically competent. They come across as mediocre technicians, not first rate engineers, let alone scientists.
In the case of "What's Best" the main miscreant happens to be one of the site founders. I have it on good authority that this person has driven many people away, including the two of us. I had been warned that the end result of my taking on this character would not be good. The warning was correct, but I have a hard shell and could personally care less.
It would not surprise me if these characters were to find themselves the recipients of a defamation lawsuit.
