My Mytek DAC does not have an output relay for muting. There is no need for an output relay. The extra components degrade the sound. But then, the Mytek is really a pro audio product more than a consumer product and the assumption is that it will be used by competent people.
I would also say that if a mistake is made and there is a turn on or turn off "thump" then if this damages the amplifiers or speakers then they are not properly designed and/or suitably matched. Otherwise, this is just an annoyance.
