I await measurements that show Ethernet to be problematic (for much the same reason, namely packet oriented implying much higher speed signalling on the wire and many attendant complications). We already have the listening reports and sales pitches.
Given that a computer is required to decode the protocols transmitted on Ethernet, it makes no sense to talk about Ethernet eliminating the problem of computers. Ethernet just replaces one computer with another. The effect of network audio (or USB audio for that matter) is to increase the number of computers involved with playback of music. More complexity means more hiding places for problems.
