RE: "backups ... over the network" - no different, in certain sense, than printing locally, using USB cable.

Curious.

What if one is playing a music file local to a PC over a USB DAC, not sending any music files over the network at this time. But what if another member of the family is printing a file on another PC over the network to a printer at the same time the music is playing. (One can assume that the printing PC and the printer are in another room and there is no sound that makes it to the listening room.)

Under these circumstances, do you think that the quality of the Ethernet cables will affect the sound quality of the music? How about if these cables go to a switch which happens to be near by and/or connected to the music PC?

Anybody done any of these tests?
