It is clear enough that the product does not work correctly on USB. It is advertised as supporting asynchronous USB. This implies support of a protocol that solves the buffer management and flow control problems associated with multiple clocks. If the product correctly supported this protocol then there wouldn't be any skipping problems, nor would there be any need for multiple clock modes. There would only be one clock mode, and that would be driven by the DAC master clock.
Other clock modes might be relevant when running with other inputs. The OP is hung up on his belief in some kind of magical "exact mode" for clocking that is irrelevant and inappropriate for async USB connections.
