RE: Mac-Mini/Auralic Vega Music Drop Outs.-last Try?

If the problem is frequency tolerance as fmak suggested then take note, Fred is right and Abe is wrong. There are different levels of frequency tolerance. There is a sonic cost associated with adapting to widely errant clocks, which is why some devices support multiple modes.

The frequency tolerance can be due to an out of spec crystal at either the computer or the DAC. If you know someone with a high quality frequency counter you can ascertain which one is in error. Given that there are different clocks for the different sample rate families (44.1x vs. 48x) the results may differ. There are also ways to tweak the oscillator frequencies, but their will be issues of packaging, warranty, etc...

For sure, try a bunch of other computers to see which ones work best. You may find one where the clocks are harmonious.
