Twisted pair Ethernet is isolated via pulse transformers. These will not reject noise in the signaling bandwidth needed for data communications so computer noise can make it through the transformer. Also, the transformer and receiver circuitry will not provide perfect common mode rejection. Common mode rejection will also depend on the quality of the twisted pair cables used, as reflected in the cat 5, cat 6 cat 7 specifications.
