Correct. The basic design of most digital audio products is fundamentally broken. That's why there is so much discussion in this forum about things that matter that do not have to matter. But perhaps that's the point. Ever since "high end" audio took away tone controls people have to swap components and cables so they can play with second and third order effects. Much better for business than twisting a few knobs to adjust a recording to taste.
Now if you were hearing differences when changing Ethernet cables at a distant server that would be a fun subject. :-)
Another fun subject would be 44/16 vs. Hires, but there isn't much contention any more with respect to that issue, at least not on this forum.
