"Uh, yeh, I second that one. Interestingly, music is the on thing that has NOT benefited from technology. Just about every other technical art form has. There is no comparison between 50 years ago and today in the quality of film and video, photo, design, and medicine. It is not even close. Pro audio...not so much."
I blame Sony and Philips. And my one time summer college roommate, E. Brad Meyer and all of the rest of the deaf Sony/Philips sycophants. With a hard ceiling on true quality the only room in the marketplace was in the scam dimension.
But perhaps there is a higher level explanation. Hearing is the most subtle of the human senses and in an ever deteriorating and cruder materialistic society, why would one expect sound to be a relevant dimension of the zeitgeist?
