If one sample differs by one bit you probably won't hear it if it is a low order bit, especially if the music is loud.

If you want to precisely locate the difference and listen to it, then use an editor and mix the two files together, one file with reverse polarity. Then you will see all zero samples on the display except for the one sample that differs. Unless it is one of the lowest order bits then the click will be clearly audible at normal to loud volume control settings.

Sometimes a bad rip will have one sample screwed up and the ripping software will do an "interpolation" of the nearby sample points. When that happens, the error sample will usually be a very low value and you may not even hear the click or pop in the difference file. If this happens only at one point you will almost certainly miss the difference when listening to the two rips. However, if these errors are repeated, even low level errors may become audible.
