RE: Speaking of Linear Power Supplies....

Am I missing something? If the problem is high frequency noise currents cause by varying load, why can't the load just be bypassed with a huge capacitor with low ESR immediately adjacent? Or perhaps I am just agreeing with you, the switchers (done right) are better.

Personally, I think the entire switcher vs. linear debate is BS, akin to transistors vs. tubes. It was certainly true that early transistor amplifiers were terrible. The same could be said about switchers. There was a time when just getting switchers to work without blowing up was an achievement, like say 30 years ago. One way or another, the noise will show up on the power supply rails and on the power cord. It can be measured and characterized. The effect on sound quality can be ascertained by listening tests.
