I rumaged around in the BIOS of my Acer motherboard and could not find any DEP switch. There were other SQ relevant items such as Spread Spectrum and various power management options.
It is not clear how much a BIOS switch does. It might just set some values that configure the operating system (and which could be done differently by other OS commands or files) or it may change some values that actually affect BIOS code. I looked at a few websites and didn't get any solid technical data, just magazine articles and marketing BS. I did discover that the AMD and Intel DEP architectures are different and have different software implications. Therefore DEP might have different sonic effects with these processor families.
Have you looked at noise on your power supply rails and seen if/how it changes as DEP is enabled/disabled?
