"With it's own crystal oscillator this sounds more like a reclocker to me too."It's somewhat perilous to reverse engineer based on marketing materials, but I suspect the functions involved are similar to those of a powered USB hub. Hubs clean up the USB signal (eye pattern: levels and timing) and powered hubs provide new power. The result will be a USB waveform that is largely independent of the USB waveform output by the computer, although the rate of packet generation will remain under the control of the computer, because USB audio is isochronous.
