RE: Gordon Rankin Says I'm Wrong About USB Cable Sound!

The link was to a post by someone who wrote what he thought Gordon said. Nothing from Gordon himself. There wasn't much of substance in the thread.

I would expect more problems with USB than with Ethernet. Perhaps this is because Ethernet was designed to run 100 meters and is over engineered for short runs. USB is designed for short runs and it would be leaving money on the table if excess margins were used in typical configurations with a 2 meter USB cable. I would be surprised if there weren't people having problems with USB printers.

I am not computer challenged. I am somewhat surprised when computers work they way I had hoped. When they don't I don't let it upset me. If I am interested I investigate and get to the bottom of the problem and find a way around it, or if not possible I blacklist the vendor and move on. There is a lot of junk out there. There are few people, especially programmers, who are capable of doing correct work and many of these are pressured by management to ship products before they are done. If there were stories of programmers being shot because of their bugs then perhaps the situation would be different. (In WWII parachute packers had to put on chutes they packed and jump out of airplanes.)
