My Mytek DAC has a word clock output and a word clock input using BNC connectors. It can be configured to sync to the incoming signal, the incoming clock or the local clock.
Unfortunately, I don't have a transport that inputs the word clock output to control its SPDIF or AES output. Instead I use Firewire or USB for which the transport does sync to the DACs internal clock. If I had a SPDIF/AES transport with compatible clock input than I suspect the results I get would be betterthan with USB or Firewire, both of which require extensive processing in the DAC compared to what is needed with SPDIF/AES. Perhaps there's an USB to SPDIF converter that accepts word clock input, but I don't know of one.
