RE: I am amazed

Ok, I'll bite:

"Not a personal attack at all. Just a reality.

Why do you thinks others hear differences then?

You have already made it pretty clear that IYO, you are not doing anything wrong, and do not hear a difference."

Because most people do not control the variables while listening like making sure amplitude is controlled or the *exact* same section of music is used. Because our acoustic memory is in the order of seconds and it's difficult to get the changes done in time - it takes me probably 5-10 seconds to change JPLAY settings for example (and that's a bit of a stressful pace if I know I'm racing again time and perceptual memory of really fine auditory details!), much longer to change between programs. Because if one is doing longer term listening sessions like over hours or various hours in the day, the perceptual system can get fatigued and can be affected by emotional factors like stress level, sleep quality the night before, etc. Because ambient noise and electrical noise in the system might be louder in the day vs. around midnight...

Look, I'm just shooting off the ideas here and there are others I can say. This is why I do believe that methodologies like ABX and DBT (I know, we don't need to argue about this here) helps *me* minimize my own biases and emotional variables beyond the equipment and environmental factors so that *I* can more accurately convince *myself*. I accept that I am *not* infallible nor do I have "golden ears" and my "first impressions" could be wrong and have been wrong in the past. Life experience suggests to me that those around me, including audiophile friends are not much different from myself in fallibility.

Again, there is no reason I think the "worst" of you or any others. I know the discussions around here can get heated and all, but we don't need to get to the point of claims of mental illness. I hope I've made myself clear.
