RE: I've come to

Thanks for the post Jeff.

Those Wadia CDP's are fantastic sounding devices. Back around 2000, I was in Singapore and had a chance to audition the Wadia 850 played on some mbl amps and speakers. I still recall that experience as one of the best sounding auditions I've had.

Transcoded CD --> SACD is clear misrepresentation of the item; hence pure fraud IMO. The fact that this happened casts a dark cloud over the SACD discography and makes the whole endeavour suspect.

Over the last few years, I've posted on various SACD review sites (with links to ad revenue/sales of such items) describing objective evidence of 44kHz transcoding. Most of my reviews ended up being taken down by such sites... The financial incentive to maintain consumers in the dark and perpetuate some kind of mystique over "Super Audio" I believe is strong.

No matter, for SACD, the consumer has already voted with their feet.

BTW: I found it hilarious that the Rolling Stones/SONY SACD sampler which came with the magazine pictured in my blog post included Norah Jones' "Come Away With Me". We all know now it was nothing more than CD transcoding; but yet they included that track on the sampler as standout SACD music!
