Since this is your post, please make sure to do your own listening tests and come to your own conclusions about things like one-is-better-than-the-other (eg. coaxial vs. TosLink). IMO the science is "sound", and things like jitter is really nothing new. After all these decades, I doubt something as "crappy" as TosLink would survive if it really sounded that horrible.Good luck on the search for the noise issue. I agree with Thorsen than likelihood is we're looking at some kind of power supply related issue.
