I've always found the love of NOS a bit odd to me. Recently I sampled an Audio Note DAC 5 in Asia and try as I might, just did not like the rolled off treble I've always experienced with rock, pop, techno, and R&B with NOS DAC's in general. Sounds like the slow roll-off filter of many standard DAC designs.

My suspicion is that NOS designs like with the Audio Notes are good for live or acoustic music where the limitations are not as obvious.
