RE: HDMI vs optical for audio

I don't know about "way audible" TB. I've done some blind testing with simulated jitter 5000ps and above with real music and I can't say that I could reliably detect that. The inherent noise in recordings I find generally will over-run inaccuracies from jitter.

A good example is the Zanden 5000 Mk IV CD player review in Stereophile. Subjective evaluation noted no audible problems. But 1000-4400ps when measured. Though I would never buy poorly engineered equipment with such issues, I suspect that it SOUNDS fine.

With test tones however, the sidebands at 2500ns is quite audible to me with AB testing.
