Interesting post! RE: wishing i could do my system all over again..

Very interesting post Les? I'm actually curious what you've done over the years and what regrets you have. I think this is an interesting topic though not specifically around computer audio.

Personally, I did go the route of $300 speakers back in the day (Tannoy MX2 bookshelves) and they were good for what they did. When I made a jump 10 years ago to Paradigm Reference Studio 80's (no longer in production) at about $1500-$2000 price point, this made a major difference.

These days, I listen mainly to a recent pair of Paradigm Signature S8 (~$7000). Music streamed to Logitech Transporter with Behringer DEQ2496 for room correction in the digital domain.

In retrospect, I would have been very happy with the Studio 80's and room correction for 2-channel. There is a significant shift in price-performance around $1500-2000 IMO for mass produced cone speakers like these (not talking about boutique brands of course).
