1. Yup, headphone "soundstage" is massively different. But the lack of difference is astonishing. I disagree that long period listening is needed. For me 30 seconds to 1 minute is the best I can manage in order to remember nuances.
2. Whether pros/audiophiles like the Benchmark is debatable. I honestly have not heard anyone say that it's inaccurate though nor any big discussion that it's a clearly inferior DAC compared to some other.
3. Multi-mic music is what I mostly listen to and most of my hi-res collection consists of this stuff! What purist recording would you recommend I listen to then?
4. Yes... training... ~10 years ago I was involved in testing mp3 encoders and listening for artifacts. Today's test is clearly different and if there is a difference, MUCH more subtle. What research are you referring to? Love to read up on it.
