Unless there's some improvement in human physiology or we discover something new about perception, there's really no point.

Demanding 24/96+ is like a videophile demanding that movies be shot to cover the ultraviolet "colors". Does this sound reasonable??? Yet this is what you're asking for.

Look, I got no problems with the recording companies capturing as much as possible for their archives, especially historically important recordings. But for the final consumer format, it's not about good enough, but there's really *nothing* else there to "need" or "want" that any human can reasonably perceive when you're talking 24/96 (or more likely 24/50) and above!
