I think people who are serious about computer audio are aware enough NOT to pay attention to TAS in general.
Seriously, if your computer doesn't have speed issues and you're not multitasking at the same time as listening (ie. you're not using a Pentium III <1GHz), there is absolutely no concern with decoding FLAC at any level. The FLAC compression system was designed to be very fast and utilizes very little computing power by today's standards.
