Yup, sadly so.
Now that digital rips of SACD's are a reality, it's much easier to see how many titles are just PCM 44.1kHz --> SACD there are. Just cue up the digitally ripped track and look for the obvious 44kHz drop-off.
Although I was an early supporter of SACD (had a SCD-1 back in 2000-2001), I'm happy to have archived all my SACD's (about 50) as 24/88 or 24/176 now and available on the music server. Haven't bothered to spin up an SACD now in months.
Although DSD64 sounds great, I just don't see it as superior enough that I would care to spend anything more on it at this point. IMO well recorded/produced 24/88+ is just as good as DSD64 with better dynamic range in the treble.
The PCM hardware is already plentiful, I want to see software taking advantage of what's out there and hardware manufacturers perfecting the technology...
