Steve,
Since you've met the man in person, perhaps you can let us in on his role at Audio Note.
I believe he was a "marine broker" before getting into audio. Then he started Audio Innovations, then started importing Japanese stuff under the new Audio Note company.
Does he have any science background? Does he actually design any of the stuff himself? Can he carry on a reasonable technical discussion about electronics such as the circuitry in the stuff he sells? Or is he mainly the mouthpiece/salesman?
All I see to see are a bunch of interviews he has done with at time very strange beliefs about audio engineering, analogies around sports cars and other luxury items (which obviously he can afford). Strange...
In the HiFi Unlimited blog (link below), he even seems to think that CD's hold the music data "without breaking up the signal at all" while arguing against hard drive storage. He obviously does not understand cross-interleaved Reed-Solomon code(CIRC)!
Yet the audiophile press seems to almost deify this guy (obviously they're in awe of his bank account, not intellect).
One can't help but laugh... (Unless I'm missing something!?)
