RE: Something to think about...

"Yes. Differences are perceived between USB cables in the audio context because, unlike conventional data, audio data are real-time. Cables that work perfectly when passing conventional data from e.g. a PC to a printer do not work so well for audio because a host of otherwise trivial parameters are critical in a real-time scenario. If this seems counter-intuitive, might I suggest you do a little research? It's pretty basic stuff."

So it's all got to do with jitter then eh? I've looked around for years and can find no "research" saying a $1000 USB cable is better than $20 one in real-time applications... Perhaps you can be kind enough to include a link or some kind of citation? Surely different jitter rates can be objectively demonstrated between cables!

"Can you also consider the possibility that you're hearing a placebo effect

Yes, of course. Can you consider the possibility that you just might have a bit to learn here?"

As above, please show me where I have erred. It's easier to learn something if I'm shown the facts than potentially admitting to one's fallacies and susceptibility to placebo effect.

"(human psychology is the one 'science' we can still place in the preparadigmatic category BTW).

Oh Dear. I'm familiar with Kuhn's work but I'm also, alas, too old to be impressed by po-mo epigones, especially when the points they make are irrelevant. The fallibility of perception has been well understood for a century and a half or more. It's something of a paradigm. "

OK, if you accept that fallability of perception is well understood and presumably important and true, unless some objective data can be brought out, is it not reasonable to accept that it's more a perceptual issue rather than an issue with the USB cable?
