Agree with this statement but not how you're using it.
Remember that the CD, computer, amp, preamp, speakers, cables were all created with an understanding based on clear physical principles. These things did not come from the sky from God's mighty hand waiting for you to experiment and explore their properties! Rather they were produced out of human engineering based on well understood principles.
Audio engineering is not some preparadigmatic science where "anything is possible". To assume there is some kind of hidden property that can cause digital bits to sound different just because the wire has some kind of special quality is unreasonable... As much as a scientist writing a grant to experiment on the "ether" in the air that allows light to be transmitted. This might have made sense a century or two ago but utterly ridiculous today!
Ultimately, it is up to those who hear significant differences to be curious enough to explain what's going on. So can you explain what you hear? Can you also consider the possibility that you're hearing a placebo effect (human psychology is the one 'science' we can still place in the preparadigmatic category BTW).
I've done a few tests over the years to be satisfied that I believe the scientists & engineers so I can honestly say that the science works for me and has strengthened by belief that there's no difference. The occasional times I thought there may have been a difference likely lies in me and my perception because it goes away with ABX and blind testing.
