RE: Has anyone made direct comparisons between SACD and HD K2?

Thanks for all the replies. I guess I should have been a little more detailed with my question. When I say compare the HD K2 to SACD, I am talking about the same recording from the same master. I have the APL Master CD/SACD player. I know the SACD and RBCD processors are two different circuits but all other circuitry is used by both. I guess this is as close as we can get to eliminating all variables. Of course I can buy four different audiophile versions of the same recording and discover the winner but that would be more than I could afford for a large collection. What I am suggesting, and I think it should be a new category on this site, is people posting their experience with several audiophile recordings of the same recording. This is exactly what the sa-cd.net site does very well. On occasion, posters there do run through three or four different audiophiles recordings and pronounce the winner. Backtracking a bit, XRCD and XRCD24 are NOT HD K2 although they are all made by JVC, they totally different in execution. And from the few HD K2's I have, they are superior to XRCD's. I have many of the cheap RCA Living Stereo classical recordings. The XRCD versions sound better (clearly) to me. Now Acoustic Sounds are releasing these with just one piece on each (similar to XRCD) SACD for $30 a pop. If you love a piece of music to the extent that you are willing to buy several different $30 to $40 apiece SACD/HD K2/BSCD2/SHM SACD, then please post your findings. As previously stated, it should be a new category on this site. Does anyone know how to make that happen? I would not be surprised if incrementally (so the crazies, myself included, can buy all iterations) these recording techniques (which all provide audible improvements) are combined to produce something that finally ends vinyl as a competitive format. No hate mail please, it is coming. Here is my post to compare several audiophile recordings of the same recording. Allman Brothers "Eat A Peach" recording. I chose this one because the results surprised me. I have the MoFi UDCD 513 version, a SHM cd (RBCD), an inexpensive (~$15) SACD (Mercury) and the latest MoFi SACD. The best version (not a close call) is the cheap $15 SACD. The latest MoFi UD 2102 $30 is tied for last with the other two losers. This is info that if we all shared could save us lots of $$$. I have many others, about half classical and half all other genres. I will get around to posting as soon as that new category shows up. Just joking. I'll share this info as soon as I unload all my duds.
