They have a new violist, Geraldine Walther, who joined in 2005. She has played a lot at the Music@Menlo summer program with Finckel, Wu Han & Company, and if memory serves, she's a bit less analytic than her predecessor. That said, the Britten CD on which she plays with the group, still sounds a bit too cool to me. So perhaps she's taken the Takacs coolade. Again, I've not heard anyone else complain, so maybe my aging ears are lying to me.
