It's all about the music, dude! Sit down, relax and listen to some tunes.

Why do most (90%) classical recordings sound like dogshit???

Hi,

I have a large collection of CD's (2000) and enjoy almost all genres of music. I am trying to increase my exposure to classical music lately and have been listening to NPR on a regular basis. I recently heard (on my car radio)a smoking version of the Beethoven Violin Concerto in D with Jasha Heifetz and the Boston Symphony Orchestra conducted by Munch. I write down the info and purchased the CD and dropped it into a $100,000 plus system and it sounds BAD (it sounded much better on the radio in my car). What is going on here??? Are the radio stations doing some processing to enhance the sound? This is not the exception to the rule, this is generally the case. All relevant comments appreciated. Thanks.

Bart
