Re: Still smiling after my switch to Gallos

Image height is dependent on where the highs and mid transducers are located relative to your ears on the horizontal plane. Because the Maggies are line source, it's not a problem whether standing or sitting. With the Gallos, it's less of a issue if it is properly angled or raised if you are sitting high. A singers mouth is 3 inch in circumfrence, you get the illusion that he/she is short if the Gallo mid/high drivers sit low, raise it to proper height and you'll get a taller singer. But then one of the curse of large panels is you get a 6 foot mouth projected at you on close mike recordings. It seems like the Gallo's were design a little lower then most people's sitting position. Bright Star has speaker stands specifically for the Ref3's, but elevating by cheaper means like Auralex Mopads might be sufficient.

Image depth on the Gallo's are very halographic and does an excellent job in floating three-dimensional image. Roger Waters "Amuse to Death" sounds incredible on the Gallo's.
